Clippers Were Unwilling To Offer No-Trade Clause To Paul George

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jul 1, 2024 5:43 pm

The Los Angeles Clippers not only offered Paul George a three-year contract instead of a four-year one, but they also were unwilling to offer a no-trade clause, reports ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Sports Center.

If George decided to re-sign with the Clippers on a three-year deal worth approximately $160 million instead of the four-year, $212 million deal from the Philadelphia 76ers, he would have had to accept approximately $50 million less in guaranteed money. George also would not have been able to control whether he remained in Los Angeles for the life of the contact.

The Clippers previously signed Blake Griffin to a five-year contract as a free agent in 2017 only to trade him to the Detroit Pistons in January of 2018.
