Jazz Listening To Trade Offers On Lauri Markkanen

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jul 1, 2024 7:13 pm

The Utah Jazz are not sure if they will trade Lauri Markkanen this offseason, but they're listening to offers as he's set to enter the final season of his contract barring a contract extension. The Jazz would have to preserve their cap space and wait until August if they were to do a renegotiate-and-extend deal with Markkanen.

"One player a number of teams have tried to target [is] Lauri Markkanen of the Utah Jazz," said Adrian Wojnarowski on Sports Center. "Utah is not sure it wants to trade him, but they have to listen. They've been listening. And a lot of the teams who lost out on Mikal Bridges from Brooklyn have transferred over to try to see if they can land Lauri Markkanen out of Utah. Golden State is one of those teams."

Markkanen has also been linked with the San Antonio Spurs this week, while the Houston Rockets were one of the teams who also pursued Bridges. The Oklahoma City Thunder were previously connected to Markkanen, but that seems unlikely considering they just signed Isaiah Hartenstein.

Danny would probably sell or trade his own kids if the price or number of picks were right.

Ainge will probably ask Denver for Jokic and Murray and 3 other picks.

The reason Boston won a chip just a few years after Ainge was fired by the Celtics is mainly because Brad Stevens doesn’t ask for the moon in trades and actually makes moves rather than just stockpiling assets forever and forever waiting for a trade that would completely rip off the other team.

Ainge just doesn’t know to utilize assets to build a contender really. Kind of lucked into the KG/Ray Allen trades back in the day imo.

NBA draft finishes
Major NBA trades wind up
All key free agents signed

And now Danny Ainge listening to offers for Lauri Markkanen?

Teams do not have the type of assets that the Jazz want at this stage of the offseason - if they wanted to make a trade you do it before the NBA draft and start of free agency ( not after when the wells have "dried up" ).

You are right about the transition from Ainge to GMBS. Teams were terrified of dealing with Ainge and wouldnt make a move. Having a new GM allowed communications to re-commence.

Danny then did danny things to the Wolves and the Cavs

They did indeed, well wolves 3rd round actually. Rudy only goes downhill from here and it's going to take improvement from all cavs not named spida for the cavs to go any further in the future. I'm not saying the wolves and the cavs didn't get quality players. Danny just made sure both teams well and truly overpaid to get those quality players
