Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a four-year, $7.9 million deal. The Lakers will have a team option in Year 4 of the contract.

James was the 55th overall pick in the draft. During the pre-draft process, Rich Paul indicated James would be on a standard NBA contract and had no interest in a Two-Way deal.

Someone in the league office needs to open up a salary cap circumvention probe. The lakers are funnelling over max money to james by overpaying his son.

Yes. A guy worth a billion dollars is orchestrating a Ponzi scheme to siphon extra cash through league minimum salaries.

This is an overpay for a 55th pick.

Is this a record contract for a low 2nd round pick?

This is nepotism at it's finest by a franchise that has all but abandoned even the idea of putting a competitive team, let along a championship team, on the court.

I'm not clutching pearls. The lakers should be fined at least a second rounder for this. If they can do this with bronny, why can other teams go over the max salary to pay other star players kids? Maybe hand out 4 year contracts to all the extended family and just cut them before training camp.

teams are allowed to hand out these kind of contracts to whoever the **** they want. what business is it of yours, and why on earth does it upset you? you think this is the first time in history that an nba player has gotten a contract they didnt deserve because the team that signed said player wanted to make someone happy? Were you born yesterday?

Reality check for the dude whose brain has been broken by the internet... The Lakers used a 2nd round draft pick on a draft eligible player who entered the draft and got drafted under the rules of the nba regarding... drafting.... are you following me my dude? they're allowed to sign a second round drafted player with any contract that fits within the nba rules about signing players who are drafted in the second round of the nba draft for eligible nba players who enter the draft and are drafted by teams who have a draft pick and use that draft pick to draft a player who is in the nba draft.

How you doing with all this? Am I going too fast? Are you taking notes?

I'm sorry you are dumb. It must be hard.
The NBA rules also allow signing anyone over draft age in the off season to a minimum contract. The roster can be at 100000000 people if you want during that period. So a team could offer a guy all their cap space, and that would be completely legal. Then they could turn around and sign every family member and friend he as to minimum contracts and cut them the next day, funneling a hundred million extra to that player. You think that would fly? All the individual parts are legal, right? That's a pretty clear evasion of the salary cap and the league absolutely would crack down on that. They really need to crack down on this one too.

riiiiight... so as i stated, the internet has clearly broken your brain, and I would suggest you get help. and I mean that sincerely. the stuff you're spouting is insane, and needs to be evaluated by a professional.

But just for **** and giggles (this should be a lot of fun) why dont you cite for me the nba rule that the lakers broke which is punishable in any way.

The NBA doesn't publish formal rules outside of the CBA, but the commissioner has broad authority to regulate this type of team behavior when it comes to salary cap evasion. You can't just hire everyone's family to circumvent the salary cap. Claiming you can is just dumb. Otherwise owners could just pay a guys brother $100 million to sell popcorn.

my guy... how many times do i need to explain this to you? Bronny James made himself draft eligible and could have been drafted by ANY team and had a similar contract signed by ANY team. He got drafted by the team his father plays for and signed a 4 year contract with that team for an amount that is allowed within the nba rules. There is literally... and i do mean LITERALLY nothing punishable about this signing at all. I dont think you understand how any of this works. You're operating on vibes.

If the NBA were to punish the Lakers (they wont) for signing a draft eligible player that they rightfully drafted just because you believe hes making more money than he deserves, the Lakers would be plainly within their rights to sue the NBA, and they would undoubtably win that lawsuit because.... uh... how can i say this... THEY DIDNT BREAK ANY **** RULES! What in God's name are you talking about dude?

I'm sorry you aren't smart enough to figure this out. I'm draft eligible. Everyone out of high school is draft eligible. I'm eligible to be signed as a free agent. Anyone who is out of high school and wasn't drafted can be signed as a free agent. You can't circumvent the cap by handing a guys extended family contracts though.

Anyway, I'm sure the lakers and lebron will get away with it. They shouldn't though.

...they didnt "circumvent the cap". What the **** are you even trying to say? Do you know what words mean? Honestly the most shocking revelation youve touched upon in this entire conversation is the notion that you graduated from high school. I find that to be truly shocking.
