LeBron James was selected by his peers within the United States Olympians to be the country's flagbearer for the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremonies. James is the first male basketball player to be selected for this honor.

James joins Sue Bird and Dawn Staley as basketball players to be given this honor. This is James' fourth Olympics for Team USA.

"It's an incredible honor to represent the United States on this global stage, especially in a moment that can bring the whole world together," James said in a statement.

"For a kid from Akron, this responsibility means everything to not only myself, but to my family, all the kids in my hometown, my teammates, fellow Olympians and so many people across the country with big aspirations. Sports have the power to bring us all together, and I'm proud to be a part of this important moment."

The worst is that he’s a billionaire who has enough attention already and is stealing this moment from someone who really deserves it and represents the average American. You know there is a unknown athlete at the Olympics who works 60 hours a week and trains every second they can and when the Olympics are over they go right back to the grind but we won’t hear that story instead we get to hear more about LeBron. What’s the over/under how many times Bronny is mentioned during the opening ceremonies?
