In a wide-ranging interview about finally playing in the Olympics and his career, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was candid about the state of the team. Curry was also honest about his thoughts on finishing his career with the Warriors, after longtime teammate Klay Thompson left the team this offseason.

"I’m taking it one step at a time to be honest. I think that’s the only way that will protect my happiness. Also, it allows me to enjoy being myself when I’m out there playing. And I’ll continue to make the decisions that are best for me and for my career at the end of the day when it comes to just the imagination. I want to win," Curry said. "Let’s put it this way, it’s a longwinded way of saying that it if it is a situation where you’re a bottom feeder and it’s just because you want to stay there, I’d have a hard time with that. But I don’t think that’s going to be the reality."

Curry said it's "still weird" that Thompson left for the Dallas Mavericks. The Warriors point guard said he probably won't fully process it until he shows up at the arena and Thompson isn't there.

The Dubs are definitely leaning rebuild and I could see them asking him if there's a contender he would want to join next summer or if he wants the retirement tour.

If Curry wants to play more than just finishing out his contract and retiring, it probably makes sense to part ways.

I agree. Everyone sees how well the Curry/LBJ pairing works. Moving from the Bay Area to LA isn't that big of a jump if Golden State decides to do a full rebuild.

He's accustomed to winning. For the doubters out there, would you want to spend your last couple years in the league being frustrated playing for a bottom-feeder, or would you prefer to give yourself another chance at winning it all given the short distance between the two locales?

Obviously, none of it matters if Golden State continues making win-now moves to improve the team. I don't need to hear about the difference between the two areas from Cali snobs either thank you very much.

The only California team that isn't a bottom feeder this year is Sacramento.

Honestly, I think he's trying to light a fire under management to make sure they are competitive. If they were to not make the playoffs again, or be even worse than last year, I can see him getting more serious and having some hard conversations with management. They already let go of one of his brothers so team loyalty should go both ways.

Uprooting your family is just part of NBA life. He has just been lucky to never have to do it. If he wants to finish his career competing for championships his family is going to understand. Some players just want to keep winning even if they already have done so.

With that said he very well may not plan to ever leave the Warriors. And he just wants to put public pressure on them to make moves.

How’s his net worth only $160 million? Tobias Harris has made like 3x or 4x that amount in his time in the league.

How’s his net worth only $160 million? Tobias Harris has made like 3x or 4x that amount in his time in the league.

Taxes, agent fees etc., esp living in Cali. Curry might've taken home only 40% or so, of his combined contracts worth about $354 mil. Thus, $160mil. I don't think they took endorsements and other income into account. Just NBA contracts.
