Blazers Expected To Move One Of Jerami Grant, Anfernee Simons Before Training Camp

In an interview with Sactown Sports 1140, Portland Trail Blazers beat writers Aaron Fentress said that the team's offseason moves aren't done yet. Fentress reported that Portland is expected to move at least one of Jerami Grant or Anfernee Simons before training camp.

"I would be surprised if Jerami (Grant) or Anfernee Simons, that one of the two is not moved. I was told that that’s definitely the goal, that one of the two would probably be gone before training camp," Fentress said. "Both being gone might be different. They obviously have time. They can wait until the trade deadline and see if someone else will offer more."

The Blazers are building their roster around Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe in the backcourt. Simons could be the odd man out of that backcourt trio. He's the best player of that group, so he'll likely start. If he doesn't start, Simons could request a trade. That could see Portland get ahead of things, to open up more minutes for Henderson and Sharpe.

Grant is content in Portland for now, but he reportedly doesn't want to be on a rebuilding team. He's also drawn interest from a handful of teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers. That trade could take a bit longer to come together, due to the size and length of Grant's contract.

Come on Orlando, go get Simons as a super sixth man.

They could have had Tyus Jones for free, but this would be a good fit depending on what it costs the Magic.

Yeah I don't get why we have Cory Joseph and not Tyus Jones other than wanting to clear the way for AB to get reps on our bench?

For him, it's about a one-year stay-over so he can hopefully cash in next summer.

He's guaranteed more burn and potentially in a better situation to make a greater impact from his position.

As a Magic fan, hard to blame Tyus or the FO.

What?? then why is he content? He came from Detroit I don't think it's that important

Since lakers got Knecht now, I see AR as expendable.. deal AR15, Vanderbilt and Dlo and try to get Grant. He does what vando does and is a better offensive player. Try to get them to throw in Simons also.

AR15 is a proven player in the league. Knect4 could end up a bust.

POR doesn't want or need any of those players. I don't think LAL needs Grant either... since both of these teams have a track record of making trades that don't get them anywhere, this is almost certain to happen!

He went to POR when Dame was on the roster. He is saying that he wants the rebuild to be over. The problem is that the roster doesn't have a single first or second option type player. Grant, Ayton, Simons, etc. are all 3rd options at best... and Scoot should still be in the G-league. They are a long way off!

Very different type players. Simons is not a PG, he's an undersized SG.
