Julius Randle Unlikely To Be Valued By Another Team Higher Than Knicks

The New York Knicks went on a playoff run last season without Julius Randle, which has led to some consideration of how he fits into the team long-term. The Knicks and Randle are reportedly not rushing extension talks, but a trade is unlikely as he enters what could be his walk year with a player option in 2025.

The Knicks are believed to have a higher perspective of his value than any other team in the NBA.

"I don’t believe there is a team in the NBA that would value the three-time All-Star more than the Knicks do," writes Fred Katz at The Athletic.

“Neutral, at best,” a source told said of Randle's perceived trade value.

This is dumb. Obviously we have to see how well he recovers from his surgery before his trade value can be truly gauged. Even then, he tends to be very underrated.

Had the same thought. Its strange how a three time Allstar gets no love in the basketball Mekka New York

The best cenario to the Knicks would be resigning, Randle with him taking less than the max. Other teams don't value him as much and the team won't get someone better in a trade centered on him. Good for both parts, I guess

He is mainly a ball hog tweener who is overpaid. He was a great "statisical" fit in NYK before Villanova took over. There is a reason he is a Skecher and not a Nike/Jumpman/Adidas player. He just is not HIM and is also okay. He likely gets moved for 60 cents on the dollar which will make NYK even better. They have about a 2 year window before they have to blow it up so they need something for him now.

He's in the wrong era and his lows are too low

He's a .450/.338/.768 shooter over the past 5 seasons on almost 6 3PA per game but in his 1very bad Knicks season (2022) Randle shot just .411 FG and .308 3P in almost 2600 minutes.

Ast-Tov is worse than 1.5 to 1.

Neither good size nor great athleticism (as the other guy said tweener)

Plus not a great defender to overcome the size/athlete stuff like Draymond and others have

I feel like he's properly rated -- he can put up numbers in a Thibs team that features him but he's probably not a net positive to contending teams (esp not on his contract's market value)

The hate he gets really isn’t fair. He’s a gifted offensive player, who is a nightmare 1 on 1. Plus, even with his flaws, he adds to a team that had they not ran out of gas could have been in the ECF last season. He’s another guy teams have to contend with on a stacked team that added Bridges. I really dont care if other teams value him, he’s going to make the Knicks harder to beat.

He is what he is, a selfish stat first player who has not cared about winning enough to make the sacrifices to become an A level player. I am sure he will get dealt if that is the best thing for NYK. But, they have to be reasonable about the ask.
