Josh Kroenke: I Know Jamal Murray Wasn't 100 Percent In Playoffs, Olympics

Josh Kroenke cited Jamal Murray's injury issues as a factor for his struggles during the playoffs with the Denver Nuggets and for Canada in the Olympics. Kroenke identified an ankle injury “among others” that Murray has been dealing with. Murray also had a left calf strain.

“When you’re going against the best in the world, whether it’s in the NBA playoffs or in the Olympics, you’re gonna get (opponents’) best shot. And if you’re not 100% and you know you want to be out there still, you’re gonna try to fight through it like Jamal is,” Kroenke said on Wednesday.

“But I know he wasn’t 100%. I know getting him back there is a big step toward seeing the Jamal who was throwing up triple-doubles in the NBA Finals.”

Murray is eligible for an extension worth up to $208.5 million over four seasons. Murray has one more season remaining on his deal and would be a member of the 2025 free agency class without an extension. Murray's agents are Mike George and Jeff Schwartz.

There was a report in June that Murray and the Nuggets were expected to sign the max extension at some point this offseason.

It would be awesome if Denver gave him a max extension. Do it Kroenke!

Seems like him being healthy during the season is like a 20 - 30 game window. Not even exaggerating. Don't think you should give a player like that a max contract unless its for 2 years at a time.

He's getting the full extension. There are no better options out there.
