Domantas Sabonis Says Kings Offseason 'Exceed Expectations'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Aug 27, 2024 1:16 pm

Domantas Sabonis said he's "excited" about what DeMar DeRozan will bring to the Sacramento Kings next season. Sabonis said he thinks adding DeRozan will make the Kings a more versatile team.

"I think it's going to be good for us. It's going to make us think differently on the court, move differently, and really read each other," Sabonis said. "We are used to playing one style but he does something at a Hall of Fame level that we're going to have to play around and it's going to make it so much harder for teams to guard us because we can basically score from anywhere."

Sabonis also said he was surprised that Sacramento was able to re-sign Malik Monk given the limitations in what the team could offer their sixth man. All around, Sabonis said the Kings offseason exceeded his expectations, especially adding DeRozan.

"Definitely [exceeded my expectations]. He's a very smart player, has been in the league forever, and has done so much, I'm excited to learn from him and pick his brain and I hope everyone else is and everyone gets better overall."

I mean, good for Sacto they have Sabonis bought in and on board.

I don't agree with his assessment, but we'll see how the season goes.

Are the Kings contenders? No, but they are a legitimate threat to finish where they did two seasons ago.

I agree with Sabonis 100%. DeMar was the best player they could have reasonably expected to pick up. That said, their starting five looks but they aren't anywhere close to being a complete team. They won't be contenders but they have a good shot at avoiding the play-in. It is possible to "exceed expectations" without meeting all of your goals.

I think thr Kings are 1 to moves away from being in the conversation.

If they continue to be opportunistic and wait to strike when the opportunity presents itself. I think they're a high quality starting 4 man thar fits the roster away from being in the conversation.

I agree, need to add a shot blocker next to Domas, someone who can hit the 3 and get some boards too. Can't be Domas rebounding only, and that's it.

Len is not enough, but I don't think they need more 3PT from the center position. Just more size to handle the grind and guard bigger centers when needed. Someone capable of playing 20-25 minutes but won't mind an occasional DNP.

Its been a HUGE leap this off season.

In: DDR/Carter
Out: Barnes/Davion

So Domas hit the nail on the head and that's all anyone should be saying. He's right, the offseason exceeded expectations.

Their offense is going to have to be world class to make up for their d.

Sabonis' fantasy value will definitely take a hit i bet
