Josh Giddey Tore Ligaments In Ankle During Olympics

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Oct 1, 2024 1:26 pm

New Chicago Bulls wing Josh Giddey will have a slow ramp-up during training camp. Giddey revealed at Bulls media day that he was recovering from a ruptured ankle ligament while playing for Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Giddey said he was injured during Australia's final game at the Olympics. Despite the serious nature of the injury, Chicago's big offseason acquisition said he should be ready to play on opening night.

The Bulls acquired the 6-foot-8 playmaker in a deal that sent Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Giddey is eligible for a rookie scale contract extension this summer, but there's been little news from the player or the Bulls on that front.

So OKC got Caruso for free pretty much… and Chicago gets screwed again. Got it.

No wonder I haven’t been hearing stories of Chicago dads locking up their high school daughter —- Giddey can’t run right now.

Not sure either of you read the article. It clearly states Giddey should be ready on opening night. (Although it doesn't really matter because they should be trying to lose.)

I also find the idea that CHI lost on this deal to be comical. Caruso is 30yo and on the back end of his career, who at the height of his power was a 6th-man candidate... but not really. His ability to come in, defend and do the dirty work is exactly what OKC needed, so even with his career numbers of 7/3/3, OKC got just what they needed.

Giddey is almost 22yo with career numbers of 14/7/6. His upside is exponentially higher than Caruso's. CHI doesn't need or want to win right now so they have years to try and tap that potential. Any rebuilding team in the NBA would rather have Giddey.

Both teams won.

That is precisely the situation, not sure why that is so difficult to observe. The hate monger struggles to see subjectively and that there is not always a loser in every situation.

Not sure what ya'll crying about but a player joining the bulls and getting hurt sucks. The length of the injury doesn't matter, but keep crying over milk that was never split. Enjoy Ball with his bionic knee, Giddy with a achilleas injury and Lavine with his broken game. I personally think that was a good trade for Chicago. Too bad no one wants the other broken goods.

I don't hear crying... I hear people saying Giddey's injury doesn't matter. It's a minor injury to a kid barely old enough to drink, on a team trying to lose.
