The Utah Jazz are looking to receive at least two first-round picks in exchange for Walker Kessler, sources told Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

The Knicks made multiple inquiries for Kessler before they traded for Karl-Anthony Towns.

The Knicks had reportedly pursued Towns since the start of the offseason

The Knicks lost Isaiah Hartenstein to the Thunder in free agency. Mitchell Robinson will also be out until at least December.

If a rebuilding team is trying to trade a young player under rookie contract control then I would think twice about trading much for him. Two picks seems steep.

Surely the 2 picks would be for more of a contending team that needs size. Non lottery picks. Cos 2 lottery picks would be an outrageous overpay

This is an interesting take.

That said, Kessler needs an extension or QO by July 2026 so that may be too soon of a payday for the rebuild

Sexton and Collins both come off the books that same summer too... Maybe Ainge wants one "real core piece" before committing to 2nd and 3rd level caliber players?

Lauri is not that.

He's saying the Jazz are the rebuilding team.

His point is "if they want to get off a cheap player under team control, others be wary" (contenders included)

Probably won't get that return but it sounds like they aren't really super serious about trading him anyways.

Jazz and Danny Ainge thinks all the other teams are the Timberwolves and will give them 87 first round picks for any player.
