The Los Angeles Lakers are examining the marketplace to add a center to their roster, sources tell ESPN's Shams Charania on NBA Today.
The Lakers have Jaxson Hayes, Christian Wood and Christian Koloko on their depth chart at center behind Anthony Davis. Wood recently underwent surgery on his left knee. Hayes has reportedly been impressive in camp with the Lakers.
The Lakers have a pair of future first round picks they can use to upgrade center if a potential center becomes available via trade.

Raptors calling...Poeltl is available, but you gotta take Bruce Brown too, and give back both those picks.

Is that a punishment? I actually think that's a great deal for the Lakers.

In related news, "the Lakers are interested in winning the championship this year."
Man, these breaking news bits are getting pathetic.

Guy below thinks it's a great deal, you think it's delusional....it can't be both, can it? lol. Maybe...just maybe....it's possible!
Seriously though, what C are the Lakers trying to get with a pick that's half a decade out? You're gonna have to temper expectations...

The Lakers would be foolish to give up a single pick to bring in a center while AD and Lebron are on the roster. AD is better at C
and Lebron is better at PF. They could definitely use a better backup C but that doesn't require picks changing hands.
The exception would be a future move for a rookie scale player like Kessler. That wouldn't require any rotation players going out and he might fit in long term.

They’re spot on here! Trade AD (their center) and hopefully recoup some draft equity for Bronny n nem. Get rid of Hachibasura, too.

Yeah that dude is trippin.' It didn't even take two picks to dump Westbrook and he seriously thinks he's getting two for Poeltl and Brown (who no one wants)?

I was being facetious with the two picks offer. A joke, if you will. I know the Lakers aren't giving up two picks for Poeltl and Brown. The point is that Lakers fans think they can get anyone for pennies on the dollar, so I flipped the script. What kind of C do you think the Lakers can get without parting with at least one of those 1st rounders though? I bet some Laker fan is coming up with trade scenarios like Rui for Jarrett Allen right now.
The trending players in trade offers on Fanspo right now are 1. Gabe Vincent, and 2. Jarred Vanderbilt. 8. JHS. 11. Dlo. 14. Cam Reddish.
Lakers fans be trying to trade a bunch of that trash and receive Jerami Grant and Bruce Brown back. Another proposal has them getting back Vucevic and Simons for the same poopoo platter. Someone actually proposed Vucevic for Vincent, Vanderbilt and 2 2nds. Now tell me who's delusional. lol

I think you are missing the point. The Lakers have AD (a top-5 C) and Lebron (a top-5 PF). If Lebron wants JJ to move them down a position, I'm sure he will comply. But Lebron is a better PF than AD and AD is a better center than anyone they are likely to bring in... so it would be a downgrade at two positions where they have a league wide advantage. It is much more likely that the rumor is about the backup rotation.
If they are going to upgrade a starting position it should be at SG or SF.

The article specifically mentions a C is what they are looking for.
Maybe a bench C, which they won't need the 1sts for.

You're hilarious!
You should go back and reread through this conversation. You might find that you just reiterated my first (and continuous) point.
