Doug McDermott and the Sacramento Kings have agreed to a one-year deal.

McDermott played in 64 games last season with the San Antonio Spurs and Indiana Pacers. McDermott averaged 5.5 points on 41 percent three-point shooting in 14.1 minutes.

Not a bad signing to add shooting but that's about all he does. Still need solid backups for C & PF. Not to mention a bigger wing w/ some length. What happens if Len and Lyles go down w/ injuries? I guess we're rolling w/ Robinson & McDermott as big men at center and power forward, lol. Monte is too obsessed with PGs and SGs. This roster needs more balance.

You can't worry about your 4th string center. You're over thinking it.

Yeah it's tough to plan around 2-3 major injuries at one position. At this point you probably just take the best talent as your 12th man, best chance someone's gonna be able to contribute and make the rotation. If you do get a run of terrible injury luck you can fix it then, rather than signing a bad center option just to have something on hand (esp when you can probably just sign that same bad center option IF the injuries happen).

Yep, that's what 10-days are for.

You guys still happy with Len or Trey, or that we didn't add better big men in the off season? lol Sitting at 8-7...worst record than 22-23, 23-24 when they were 9-6. Meanwhile Dougie looks like Cruddy McBuckets

Yeah, they'll be fine. Lyles and McBuckets both have positive +/- stats. Is there a backup center in the NBA that you think will make up for the loss of DeMar and Sabonis who combine for 43/17/11? Injuries will happen and chemistry can take some time... and with all that, they are a only half game out of 6th and a full game out of 5th. I would not have picked them higher before the season began.

It's not like there are no moves to make, but any newly put together team that's down two starters is going to look rough. They could try for someone like John Collins but it would require UTH to agree to take back Huerter and probably a couple picks.

Think you missed the entire point of the previous comments. McDermott was a minimum signing made very late in the offseason, no one left at that time was very good or had a good chance of improving your roster. We were just saying that at that point you just want to sign anyone who might contribute at any position to your team positively, since pickings are so slim.

Sounds like your point now is 'their center rotation isn't good, it's Dougie's fault since they signed him instead of the amazing big man options available in late October!' Not a good point.

Nope, never said it was DMcD's fault...although he is playing bad. Did you like the way old, slow Harden blew by him last night? My point is there were a lot better guys available than 'McBuckets'. A one dimensional, old washed up guy who no one else wanted up until that point the Kings got him. Len isn't good, now that he's older, way too slow and getting roasted on almost every other defensive possession. Trey isn't a good backup C either, he's not even good at all actually. Why not kick the tires on a younger big, like Azubuike, Yertseven? Those guys have at least played solidly for stretches in their careers. Or better yet, if McNair was smart, kept Queta who is starting for the defending champ Cs now. They needed some longer, taller wings who can defend and Monte neglected to address that as well. Why not go after after a young SF like Brissett? Or even a guy like Crowder who can defend, rebound and hit the 3 somewhat. McDermott was just a bad move, in a series of bad moves by him lately. The Davion trade, losing a lot 2nd rounders, keeping McGee over Queta, drafting another PG like Carter who will play 14 mins off the bench like Mitchell etc. The DeRo move looks bad as well, as it's killed the great pace & space, ball movement this team once had.

Who cares, +/- is a completely misleading and irrelevant stat. All depends on the 4 guys you're on the court with.

7/35 on 3s. 29 pts at half...do you honestly think these are satisfactory performances? Close to quarter mark of the season, should be firing on close to all cylinders.

It can be misleading... but it's not "completely" misleading. McBuckets is on the floor with the bench unit and SAC isn't getting smoked when he's out there. It's relevant.
