Kevin Durant Focused On Basketball, Not Contract Extension

Kevin Durant is eligible to sign a one-year extension with the Phoenix Suns right now. He could also wait and sign a two-year extension next summer with Phoenix. However, Durant said he's not worried about his next contract right now.

"I’m not even thinking about it," Durant said. "I’m just going to play out my contract really, and just focus on that. Focus on the team. I haven’t even really had conversations with anybody about a contract. Trying to focus on basketball."

The veteran superstar said he'll focus on his next contract when the time comes.

"I’ve been blessed enough to be in this position for 18 years and so I’m not really focused on the money part of it," Durant said. "I’m just trying to keep getting better and keep growing my game and see how good I can get. That’s always been my main focus. When the time comes, the time comes. Right now, I got two seasons left on my deal so I’m going to focus on those two."

If you're not focused on the money part of it, then be willing to take LESS so the team around you can become better. You've already made generational wealth, Kevin... so help the team you say you're committed to get lower against the cap.

The mere fact that an upcoming extension will be in the neighborhood of $60+M per season is, quite frankly, absurd. Even for someone as well known, skilled, and effective as Durant.
