The new Unrivaled women's three-on-three basketball league is considering making a "Lionel Messi-like" offer in hopes of having Caitlin Clark play in its inaugural season. MLS signed Messi with an unprecedented package that included a contract valued at $150 million, partial ownership and other financial incentives including a revenue share of Apple's MLS Season Pass.

Unrivaled's eight-week season begins in January in Miami. The league was co-founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart.

Clark has previous said she didn't plan on playing in another league during this WNBA offseason.

She might not be ABLE to play even if she wanted too. Her WNBA contract may have exclusive rights.

Name one other wnba player in the history of the league who had a contract like that. Most of the top women make more money by playing in other leagues. Why would Caitlin Clark possibly agree to such a contract?

All this is a bad look for the W.. will be interesting to see how everything shakes out. I feel like the NBA will bail them out somehow.

yep -- less than zero chance her deal has that

I don't believe WNBA CBA even allows for that

They have a far less restrictive revenue split than the NBA (players only receive a 50-50 split of incremental revenue, not all revenue)

Also wouldn't make sense to try and restrict players from other leagues when your top rookies are making ~75K annually
