The Philadelphia 76ers are a team with potential interest in Jonathan Kuminga, reports Jake Fischer. The Sixers could use the contract of K.J. Martin and their future draft picks to acquire a player like Kuminga. The Golden State Warriors and Kuminga were unable to agree to terms on a contract extension and were reportedly never close.

"The Sixers have definitely indicated around the league and behind the scenes that they are willing to pay to add in another piece," said Fischer. "They are willing to spend their draft capital."

Fischer said the Sixers' ownership group is prepared to go over the luxury tax to maximize their title chances.

The Brooklyn Nets are another team who could pursue Kuminga. The Nets figure to have as much cap space as any team

"There's already been rumblings of Brooklyn potentially willing to throw a big offer sheet at Jonathan Kuminga," said Fischer.

Fischer added that Trey Murphy III was another candidate for both the Sixers and Nets before he extended with the New Orleans Pelicans.

So the biggest pretender-contender in the East, or the biggest tanker. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that Kuminga would not be a difference maker on either team. GSW would rather have those BRK picks, but BRK would be foolish to part with them.

My guess is that someone overpays Kuminga in the summer. Maybe one of these two teams; maybe GSW. He's got enough potential for teams to throw bags at him but he hasn't proven it enough for teams to throw bags and picks at him. I honestly don't know what BRK would be thinking. He's essentially a poor man's Bridges.

A trade with the Sixers for KJ Martin and picks would only work if there's a third team taking part - Warriors need a guy who can play, who can give Steph Curry some help, not future help in the form of picks.

Kuminga has a too-high opinion of his value, which will make re-signing with the Warriors hard. But he can still make some impact on the court - he's one of the few pure athletes and "just give him the ball and get out of the way" guys the Warriors have, and they might actually prefer to use him this season and let him walk to an overpaying Brooklyn than trade him in a deal that doesn't give them immediate help.

Kuminga seems more like a Sixers move than the Nets. Going after Kuminga wouldn't be a wise move for a rebuilding Nets team.

Isn’t a part of why he overvalues himself is because GS does as well?

They’ve made him untouchable in practically every trade rumor, like the Markannen rumors.

I don't believe that - I don't think Clippers or Jazz wanted him... or they wanted too much else.

If the Warriors overvalued him they would have extended his rookie contract. But instead Kuminga is going to be a restricted free agent.

The fact that a deal wasn't signed makes it clear that the two sides do not agree on his value. Either Kuminga overvalues himself or GSW undervalues him... it's even possible both are true.

My view is that 16/5/2 in year three isn't enough to earn anything close to the max. It sounds like GSW agree with me.
