Joel Embiid Receives Three-Game Suspension From NBA For Shoving Columnist

The NBA has issued a three-game suspension for Joel Embiid following their investigation into an incident involving a reporter. Embiid shoved Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes following the Philadelphia 76ers' loss on Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Embiid's suspension will start with the next regular season game he is able to play.

"Mutual respect is paramount to the relationship between players and media in the NBA," Joe Dumars said. "While we understand Joel was offended by the personal nature of the original version of the reporter's column, interactions must remain professional on both sides and can never turn physical."

Not at all. I didn't say Hayes was physically assaulted. But the line between a push and being thrown through a wall is pretty slim when you're talking about 7ft/280lbs. Just like with refs, you just can't put your hands on them. If they are going to do their job with equanimity, there is no room for intimidation.

To clarify... I did not say it was or was not assault. I wasn't there. What I did say is that this can't happen. If allowed to go unchecked it will affect how the game is reported.
