Bronny James will only play in home games for the South Bay Lakers in the G League this season, sources told Joe Vardon of The Athletic.

James had six points in his G League debut on Sunday.

The South Bay Lakers will play 24 home games this season.

James signed a standard NBA contract for four-years and $7.9 million last offseason.

2-9 Fg
0-4 from 3
5 TO
3 reb
4 assist
2 steals

scoring wise he is not even a g league player. The rest is decent, but you have more serviceable players. In fact you have a player like TJ warren still dropping 30 in g league games available.

I guess he'll be harassed to hard on the road

I don't think the special treatment helps him here. It might even further alienate him from his teammates if that ship hasn't completely sailed already.

What he really needs is some space away; out of the shadow and purview of dad and his entourage.

Either way it likely won't make much of a difference nba-wise. But why rob him of the opportunity to grow as a person on his own for a while?

I bet Adam Silver pissed about this..Bronny would have generated so much money for the G-league on the road.

Completely understandable and warranted. G-League teams travel commercial and only stay in 3-star accommodations so it would be too much of a culture shock to him.

Next up, Bronny will only play in games where he is allowed to score 30+ points in 5 minutes with nobody guarding before packing up and going home to Daddy.

I see the nepotism here for sure, but this isn't the first time it has happened. Giannis' brother got the same treatment. Damion Lee with the Warriors, Austin Rivers with the Clippers, Keljin Blevins with the Blazers. The list likely goes on and on.

If it makes one of the best players to ever play this game happy then, so what? The percentage of players who end up sticking in the NBA from 2nd round picks are very low, I'm sure. Now the Lakers not getting Dejaunte Murray or Trae Young for picks and DLo are an entirely different thing. Signing Vincent instead of keeping Schroeder and using the money from Vincent to get a big. The front office of the Lakers have been terrible in being able to make the right moves.

Such a lazy take. Lee had a career before and after his time with the Warriors (plus a good college career), similar with Giannis's brother, Rivers was one of the top high school players in the country and was good at Duke. And didn't play for his father until after he was established in the league. None of these are even in the same universe as what is happening in LA.

Giving your unqualified son a 4-year guaranteed NBA contract does damage to the League in ways I don't think have quite been addressed. And this G League decision just casts the farce in even greater relief.
