Mat Ishbia Expects Kevin Durant To Sign Two-Year Extension With Suns Next Offseason

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Nov 20, 2024 6:33 am

Mat Ishbia said that he expects Kevin Durant to sign an extension with the Phoenix Suns next offseason and finish his career with the team.

"[Durant] loves being in Phoenix, we love having him. He's off to an amazing start this season -- one of the MVP leaders -- and we're off to a very good start.

"We expect Kevin to sign an extension, be with us for the long term. We hope he finishes his career here in Phoenix," said Ishbia.

Durant will be eligible for a two-year, $120 million extension this coming offseason.

Durant's current contract runs through the 2025-26 season.

Durant has been out due to a calf strain since November 8.

Why would they pay him 120mm over two year?

He definitely had a horrible 3 year stretch for health but just played 75 games last season, every playoff game (at 42 mpg), and finished top-10 in MVP

they've lost 6 of 7 without him -- if you move him what are you getting back for a 36 yo with 1 year left on his deal ?

And the you pair that guy with Beal -- who has declined far far worse than KD but is only 30 and still owed 160M dollars

That's may be a recipe for a Booker trade demand
