Brandon Ingram Will Extend With Pelicans Or Will Be Traded By Deadline

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Dec 4, 2024 1:52 pm

Brandon Ingram's situation with the New Orleans Pelicans has been murky since the offseason. Ingram reportedly wanted a maximum or near-maximum contract extension, but the Pelicans haven't been willing to go near that amount for the veteran forward. The led to New Orleans exploring the trade market for Ingram, but that never developed into much.

Months later, Ingram remains on the Pelicans and is still without an extension. However, after changing agencies to Klutch Sports Group, it's expected Ingram's status will resolve by the trade deadline. New Orleans is expected to either trade Ingram, or to sign him to a contract extension

If Ingram is traded near the trade deadline, he will be limited in the amount and length of the extension he can sign with a new team. If Ingram is insistent on maxing out his next contract, he may need to wait until free agency in July to cash in.

If the Pels didn't have Dejounte already, I'd have loved to send Immanuel Quickley (+ whatever) over there. It could probably still work as Quickley is similar to McCollum but 8 years younger.

5 years after the AD trade and the Pels are a complete dumpster fire. Didn't everyone say they'd be a contender by now

similar in what way?

even now at age 33, mccollum is in the middle of his 10th straight season scoring >20 ppg.

He consistently hovers at almost 46% FG and close to 40% 3P and missed on average only 9 games per year over that decade and plays between 33 and 36 mpg

Quickley is shooting 38% (has been under 40% in 3 of his 5 seasons) and has ever played 30 mins or broken 17 ppg

One's a fringe all star and the other a solid 6th man gunner

You need a lot of luck in this league. Some teams are constantly lucky and others aren't

Him and Wiggins on the same team would be a diaster..And if I had to pick one of the two I would go with Wiggins. Cheaper and he doesn't cry about lack of shots.

David Griffin really is a bum, who has only had success with LeBron pulling the strings.

CJ would be a multiple time all star if he spent his career in the East.

This is me assuming Wiggins would be sent to New Orleans or perhaps a 3rd team for draft compensation. Probably too complicated but Wiggins would definitely have to be moved.
