The Sacramento Kings have rallied in the last week to bring their record to 13-13 on the season. However, a .500 record isn't where Sacramento saw themselves. That has the Kings looking for upgrades to the roster.

To find those upgrades, Sacramento has made Kevin Huerter and Trey Lyles available in trade talks.

Huerter has two years left on his contract. The veteran wing is at $16.8 million for this season and $17.9 million next season.

Lyles is on an expiring $8 million contract. The Kings also have two tradeable future first-round picks that they can offer up in trades ahead of this deadline.

Wonder if Bk would do Huerter for DFS straight up? Both have same amount of time left of their contracts and the money is really close. DFS is shooting 47% and 45% on FGs and 3s respectively this year, and almost on 5.5 attempts per game. Really good versatile defender and can rebound also.

BRK won't do anything straight up. They are rebuilding and only have interest in future assets. (Picks and/or young, high-upside players that aren't good enough to disrupt their current tank.)

Kevin is a dime a dozen stiff, he won’t be worth much except as bad trade filler.

So why would the Nets trade a guy similar on offense, but much better on defense, straight up?

They wouldn't no value there dfs is worth a protected first which is what they want and probably will get.. Though trading with the nets can be difficult given salary cap aprons.

Well Huerter is the career better & more versatile scorer. He is 5 years younger than Finney-Smith, and still has upside...maybe just needs a change of scenery. Playing for his ex-assistant Jordi might do the trick.

You're more than likely right, I was looking at it in the context of them giving Shroder to GS for not much at all. For Melton, who might not even play for them ever. Cam Johnson I can see them getting quite a bit for though.

For Huerter, 1st swap and/or 2nds? Although Kings don't have many left after using half of them to move Davion to TO......for a dude(DD) that doesn't fit the team that much.

They got a couple of 2nds for a player that was not a part of their future, had little value around the league, but was still good enough to disrupt their tank.

I can see what you're saying, all good points! I'd like to see the Kings make a move for a legit backup C, Kuerter & 1st swap/2nd for JV & Champagnie?

Definitely their biggest need*. They could start JV although he might not close every game. They could probably get him without including a 1st.

*Their roster is actually good, which is why I agree with the Mike Brown firing. There are a lot of ways they could improve internally. When everyone is having a down year simultaneously, it is usually a coaching issue. We'll see if Doug has anything up his sleeves to unlock these guys.

They could really use a true big guy off the bench, they're a little small now for my liking, esp come play off time. JV is a really good rebounder, inside scorer and can defend/contest shots well...even if it's not the greatest in the blocks department.
And ya, turns out it was a good idea to replace Brown with DC. Their roster still is pretty good, even if smallish. There wasn't that many injuries Brown was dealing with either, a few games here and there but not like Fox & Domas were out for 10 games at the same time or something like that.
