If De'Aaron Fox were to ever become available by the Sacramento Kings in a trade, sources tell The Athletic that the San Antonio Spurs are positioning themselves to enter the bidding. Fox is a native of Houston and the Spurs have a long-term need at point guard.
The Spurs currently have seven tradable first round picks and also a number of second round picks. San Antonio and Sacramento recently did business on a DeMar DeRozan sign-and-trade with the Spurs taking on the salary of Harrison Barnes with a 2031 pick swap.
There could be other teams who enter the bidding should Fox become available. Fox cannot become a free agent until 2026 and is represented by Rich Paul.
Fox was an All-Star and All-NBA Third Team selection in 2023. This season, Fox is averaging 26.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 37.2 minutes over 28 games in his 26-year-old season.

It'll take a Kings Ransom, but then the Spurs will dominate. Someone block it from happening. Go home to Houston instead.

Fox for Vassell, Castle, Sochan & Champagnie and then I'd consider it. Spurs wouldn't want to do something like that anyway, would rather foist a bunch of future picks off on them.

A Wemby and Fox duo wins nothing, but at least they’ll sell tickets, and in todays NBA, that’s all that matters.

Fox is too much of a scorer and watching the Spurs pre and post Chris Paul, I think you need a pass first pg with Wemby who's also a good shooter so he can space. Fox might work but it's not a natural fit and you'd need the other pieces to complement. If you've got the other 3 being selfish players, it'll get ugly

De’Aaron Fox not the answer for the Spurs. They need to surround Wemby with high efficiency 3pt %.
Fox is a high usage player, poor fg% and low three % who is just angling for a mega payday. He has not watched up the needle for the Kings. He does not enhance Wemby but would rather take away from his productivity.
Spurs should add players that compliment Wemby skillset without the risk of offloading massive draft capital.
Better options that won’t break the bank or future assets :
* Tyler Herro
* Cam Johnson
