The Charlotte Hornets recently traded Nick Richards to the Phoenix Suns for Josh Okogie and future second-round draft picks. Hornets front office leader Jeff Peterson indicated that he's open to making more deals too.

"We’ve received calls on multiple of our players," Peterson said. "Nick Richards, we received multiple calls on him. We have good players. I think some of the injuries from a synergy standpoint have made it really tough to jell and see what this group can do.

"But, yeah, I think at this point, look, we are going to listen to everything. We are not going to do anything to compromise the future, but we are going to do what’s best for the organization that we see going forward in order to be sustainable going forward."

Peterson said he won't sacrifice long-term success to chase a playoff spot in the short-term.

"I have zero interest in making the playoffs for one year, and then being out for the next four or five, and then in for two and out again after that," Peterson said. "So, we want to again build something that has sustainability to it. So, at the same time, we’ve got to continue to take advantage of deals like this that’s adding picks to our treasure chest, if you will, or whatever it may be for us to have that optionality."

nothing new, Hornets leaders would never under any circumstance claim a desire for anything that could be held to any degree of accountability. they've been future focused since 2004 and that future has yet to materialize.

its quite something to watch teams out there that have "ruined their future" like 3-4 times since the last time this team did anything. The Nets for example have been accused of ruination half a dozen times since this Bobcat org was founded and even today once they sit with a better team and better asset chest than us with guys still left to deal.

probably wrote it that way purpose bc the titles mean different things for each team

Jazz have 2 EVPs (John Larson and Don Sterling) AND a team President (Jim Olson) but Ainge (CEO) is the "front office leader"

Other times, the GM is the top basketball executive -- Calvin Booth in Denver or Elton Brand in Philly.

Or could be "President of Basketball Operations" -- Leon Rose in NY or Traj Langdon in Detroit.
Rose has a GM under him (Scott Perry). Langdon Does not.

Sometimes one guy is both the GM and EVP -- Sam Presti

Sometimes two guys share the responsibility -- Buford (CEO) and Pop (President)

well being able to sign Kevin Durant with cap space and making sure that premium assets leaves via trade rather than free agency, is one way to make sure you're not rebuilding from absolute ground zero. Until this team was blown up at last year's trade deadline, we've always started our rebuilds from absolute ground zero, because we either waited too long till players had no value, or they just walked away for nothing.

This was a wasted season a long time ago. selling off bums like Nick Richards instead of just cutting them loose next summer like Cho/Kupchak would have, is a good sign... even if it's just 2nds
