Nets Comfortable Keeping Cam Johnson Beyond Deadline If Trade Price Isn't Met

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jan 24, 2025 8:36 pm

The Brooklyn Nets have maintained a high asking price in trade talks for Cam Johnson, sources tell ESPN. The Nets are also comfortable keeping Johnson beyond the Feb. 6 trade deadline if that price isn't met. However, league decision-makers believe Johnson is still the player most likely to be dealt by the deadline.

The Nets have recently come off their asking price on both Dennis Schroder and Dorian Finney-Smith in order to move forward with a trade.

Johnson is owed approximately $65 million over the next three seasons and is having a career season in averaging 19.4 points per game while shooting 41.9 percent on three-pointers. Johnson has played sparingly over the past few weeks due to an ankle injury, which some opposing teams believe is a move that is more out of convenience than necessity.
