Kings To Open Up De'Aaron Fox Trade Talks Ahead Of Deadline

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jan 28, 2025 8:40 pm

The Sacramento Kings are expected to open trade talks on a De'Aaron Fox deal ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline. While there are expected to be a number of teams interested, Fox is believed to already have a team in mind ahead of his 2026 free agency.

Kings beat reporter James Ham technically floated this before Shams.

And added more color than ESPN was willing to of yet -- says Fox will only extend for Kings or Spurs... versus anyone else would be wait and see with his remaining 1 year (after this season).

Fox is eligible for 4y 229M extension after turning down his then-max of 3y 165M last summer.

(and if he hits All-NBA somehow, then 229M balloons to supermax -- an estimated 5y 345M)

Best part of this article:
The Los Angeles Lakers are not Fox's preferred trade destination.

LA probably doesn't have the assets to trade for Fox regardless. But I want nothing to do with overpaying this guy. He thinks he's elite. He isn't. Mid-level "star" at best.

If he wants to win, can't he sign with Celtics or OKE for MLE once his contract is over, if that's all he cares about?

Because you don't want him as a Lakers fan... or because of how random and out of left field the comment is. It would be almost as bad if they threw in: "Salami is not Fox's preferred lunch meat."

I wouldn't want fox as any team lol.. A primary ball handler that can not shoot.. Thats absolutely horrible.. Whoever overpays fox will regret it.. Reminds me of Russel Westbrook except not as good.

I'd want him, just not on a max deal. I like the Westbrook comp; I was thinking of Lillard if Lillard couldn't shoot.

I think he's insanely overrated. Always have felt that way about him.

I'd be pissed if LA tossed whatever meager assets they have all-in for Fox.

I highly doubt he makes all-NBA...Kings would have to go on a crazy run and be like top 8-10 in league standings by season's end. But hey, who know's...never say never I guess

I'm not too high on them paying him 57M tbh, although he's a pretty good all around PG and can shoot, just not too well on 3s. One of the best mid range guards in the league, imo.

Get Miami involved.

Jimmy Butler and Devin Vassell to Kings for Fox and Huerter to Spurs, Derozan and Harrison Barnes to Miami. Plus draft picks change hands.

IDK, everything the Lakers have is not very much. Two 1sts and matching salary is probably about right for Fox. He would definitely be a solid #3 next to AD and Lebron. The question is: Would he accept getting paid like a #3? If he did, that would change everyone's assessment of him.

I think it's pretty clear he wouldn't accept it and that's awesome.

I'm not particularly concerned about who pairs with Bron or AD. Our front office isn't smart enough to understand that they should be trading AD before it's too late. They have mismanaged their assets terribly over the last 4 years and have zero chance of winning another title.

But, it's clear that Jeanie lacks such discernment and wouldn't have the cajones like her father to pull trades when they are best for the franchise.

If your a primary ball handler and your short relative to other players you have to be able to shoot 3s if your getting a max contract you must must be able to shoot 3s.. his assist to turnover ratio is like 2-1 as well this isn't exactly good.. The talk of pairing him with wemby is ridiculous.. Wemby is ok at 3s for his size but he isn't good then your talking about clogging the paint for wemby with fox as your go to guy.. Nope. There is a reason fox has rarely made the playoffs any team that does this trade will have zero chance at a title.

Prediction: Fox will end up in Miami with Beal.

Klutch will have no issue with Miami. Fox knows Bam well, and will be the new face of the Heat franchise going forward. He also has the opportunity for a lot more AS game appearances in the East.

this looks like, it could actually happen. 2 players that help the heat in rileys win-now mind, butler and vassell to kings would be a good compensation for fox on the kings and the spurs improve aswell. Fox and wemby would make a fun duo. i like it. Not sure if the salary numbers work, but if they do this looks like a decent trade

Kings pay a lot with fox and huerter going out, so they should maybe get some draft compensation
im bout dat action boss

I think NYM or GSR makes more sense
