Sacramento Kings forward DeMar DeRozan has been around the NBA for a long time. DeRozan knows that players come and go from rosters. DeRozan also knows that star players leaving a team can have an impact on the rest of the roster.

On a recent episode of Run It Back, former NBA player Lou Williams asked DeRozan if star guard De'Aaron Fox is traded if that would cause him to reconsider his future in Sacramento. The veteran wing was candid in his response.

"Yeah, it’s tough because looking at the landscape, before I came here, those are the guys I talked to was Fox, (Domantas Sabonis) and Malik (Monk)," DeRozan said. "Those are the core guys that made it easy for me to make my decision to play here, and a key player, a key juggernaut in Fox, not knowing the future of that, it does make it tough."

DeRozan joined Sacramento via sign-and-trade this offseason from the Chicago Bulls. He has two seasons remaining on his deal after this one for $50.5 million, but the final season in 2026-27 is only partially guaranteed for $10 million.

So we all know a big part of the reason Sacto has taken a step back this year is because of DDR, right? He's the anti-spacer.

All that is to say: Sacto should be grateful if DDR asked out and they could actually get something for him.

Kings offense went from 13th last year to 7th in offensive rating presently. I would say their issue is huerter and Murray playing poorly before I talk about demar.

Always have been skeptical about DeRozan and if he's a real winning player or not. But don't think the main issue is him, more most of the their 3 pt shooters struggling like you said. Between Murray, Huerter, Monk & Fox...they're shooting a combined 32.1 & on 3s. And Demar is around the same. Can't have your best shooters/scorers being that ineffective in today's game. The only guys really making outside shots this year are Ellis, Domas & McB...but it's really only Ellis. Domas takes a limited number, and Doug doesn't play much.

I do wonder if any of the shooting is becuase of the "demarification" of some possessions. any thoughts?

It's a good talking point. Kings really lost their pace & space strategy, now have Demar stopping the ball a lot and going 1 on 1. Which is better suited for NBA 25 yrs ago, and streetball. Was never a fan of iso, 1 on 1 stuff. Most good teams now, want the .5/no stick rule, to just catch and either shoot, drive or pass almost instantly. The DD iso stuff isn't good for the the other guys, cause they're left standing around. And Demar isn't really known for sprinting down the court consistently these days at age 35. The Kings slower pace has taken away quite a few of their wide open 3s, and wide open corner 3s. Instead of adapting to the new NBA style, the Kings are slowing the pace, and shooting A LOT of middies like it's '95 all over again.
