Bradley Beal Doesn't Want To Uproot Family Again By Being Traded

By all accounts, the Phoenix Suns still want to trade for Jimmy Butler. In order to do so, Bradley Beal would need to approve a trade. Nothing has changed there. But there now some insight into Beal's hesitancy to approve a trade.

When Beal was traded to the Suns, his entire family moved from Washington to Phoenix with him. Now, Beal is hesitant to uproot his family again, two years later. That's why it would have to be a perfect situation for the veteran guard to approve a trade.

For Beal to approve a trade, he'd be looking for a team that is in a winning situation in a desirable city. Reportedly, Beal would prefer to stay in a warm-weather city, but the basketball situation can trump that desire.

Despite the fact that the Miami Heat would fit Beal's criteria, the Heat don't want to take on Beal's contract. Miami is seeking to keep as much cap flexibility for 2026 and beyond as possible in a potential Butler trade.

Another bad NBA contract. Riley isn't stupid. You get Beal then you are stuck with him. Then they gave a no trade clause-this guys have never been a top 20 player in this league.

Why would he do anything he doesn't have to do? He gets paid either way. Teams need to stop giving bad contracts.

When your making that amount of money, you can get comfortable in any city rather quickly

I’m not saying he’s wrong, but come on bro. You’re in the nba. Getting traded is part of the job. I was on call for the railroad and had to relocate multiple times making barely enough to keep things afloat. But it’s what I signed up for. This guy has one of the highest salaries in the league but complaining about relocating. No sympathy here

You're right, getting traded is part of the business. But after the Wizards unwisely gave him a no trade clause, he now can choose whether or not he wants to put his family through the process. The fact it's part of the business doesn't make it easy, and money doesn't solve EVERYTHING. Ultimately, blame the Wizards for putting the no trade clause in his contract, and the Suns for trading for him knowing that he had that in his contract. He doesn't need sympathy because unless he decides to approve it, he's not getting traded.

I'm not sure if you guys read the article, but he didn't say that he wouldn't move, just that he would prefer not to. He would move to the right situation.

In other words: This article contains no new information.

I see 2 things here:

1) You're in a business where trading is common. Don't use your family as an excuse.
2) You have a no trade-clause to ensure that.

What it translates to me:

- Pay my moving fees and find me a new home (not sure this is common practice).

I don't have a leg in this race, so I don't care. Washington was stupid to give Beal all that money and power. Beal was never worth that contract. And Miami isn't taking back Beal in any potential deal. If there's a deal between these 2 teams, a 3rd team will be involved and will take on Beal's contract.

Good for Brad, unions put power back in the hands of the workers.

Bad for Jimmy, he's painted himself into a corner and didn't check to see whether Beal would hold up a deal.
