The addition of Luka Doncic by the Los Angeles Lakers could lead to LeBron James extending his playing career beyond his previously planned retirement date. James, who has a no-trade clause, wants to remain with the Lakers and could extend his contract this offseason. Furthermore, the Lakers are expected to shift toward a more serious pursuit of a title given the age of Doncic compared to how the James-Anthony Davis era had appeared to be nearing its completion. 

"LeBron had no intention and has no intention of asking out before Thursday's trade deadline," said Dave McMenamin on NBA Today on Monday. "He's going to stay with the Lakers to play with Luka Doncic for the remainder of the season. Then, he has a player option this summer that we assume he'll pick up. But there's a chance he will renegotiate a new deal and this Luka Doncic addition could extend LeBron James' career. It's not a given that next year will be his last year in the NBA.

"Luka Doncic, at 25 years old, and all the skills he brings. And all the commitment the Lakers are going to have from here on out to improve this team to make it championship ready to make sure they get that extension agreement from Luka in a year-and-a-half from now will give LeBron a better team to play with.

"Luka and LeBron could mean more of LeBron because of more of a chance to play championship caliber basketball because of his addition."

Haha. That's very unlikely. If anything, this was a move to push and force LeBron out. Lakers never thought LeBron would play into his 40s. They didn't make the playoffs last year if memory serves right. Prime AD and LeBron couldn't even do the bare minimum so don't be fooled by his stats. That's exactly what he's doing right now, padding his stats. New era begins with Lakers and thankfully for that. As a Kobe fan it was cringe watching LeBron with the Lakers.

Man, this message board is full of a lot of dummies.

1. Bron and AD have not missed the playoffs together, and have been to the Western Conference Finals, as well as winning a chip.

2. Lebron has a no trade clause in his contract, which is clearly stated in the article.

3. The ball will be in Luka's hands more than LeBron's, because he wants to reduce his on ball duties, as evidenced by Austin Reaves having a lot more creation responsibilities this year.

4. LeBron is still a top 15 player in the league, is literally Luka's idol and they are two of the smartest basketball players in the league, being coached by one of the best X's and O's guys in JJ Reddick. Obviously they will play very well together.

This stuff isn't hard to see or figure out if you're not blinded by hate for LeBron.

LeBron will retire AFTER Bryce enters league.

His playing goal is to play alongside both sons.

Post retirement he will either :

A) Own the Las Vegas expansion team

B) Start a competitor league to the NBA where he will be the Commish ( ie LIV PGA )

Bryce is barely a D1 player. In no universe is he playing in the NBA. Lebron is powerful, but not that powerful.
