The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to remain active in trade talks, especially as they continue to target a center. The Lakers were linked with Jonas Valanciunas in the offseason and could revisit a trade for him, as well as for Nikola Vucevic. The Lakers are currently starting Jaxson Hayes at center following their trade of Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic.

"No way," said Brian Windhorst when asked if the Lakers are done making trades ahead of the deadline. "They don't have a starting caliber center. I would expect the Lakers, by Thursday, to have acquired another center. Now, is it going to be their center of the future? They'll try, but I think it could also be a stop cap.

"They're in good playoff position right now. They can improve this roster and improve this year, but you need a center. One, to defend the rim. Secondly, Luka thrived the last couple of years with the centers in Dallas. So they got to address that. So keep an eye for the Lakers to at least one more move, maybe even two."

After the heist with the Mavs, Pelinka might be a be able to get Embiid. He can mention the same "perceived issues" as with Luka that will drive down the value.

Haters gonna hate. LeBron has become the oldest player in the NBA to win Player of the Week honors. Luka took the Mavs all to the way to the Finals as a 5th seed. Beating both OKC and the Wolves.

With that said, they still need a solid defensive minded center that can clean up around the rim as well. A Clint Capela type player. If they can't find a good trade, Mo Bamba is someone that could be a stop gap if he can stay healthy who was just waived. He's long and athletic and can shoot the occasional 3 as well. Or another center that could become available in the buyout market.
