Draymond Green Amongst Suns' Targets In Kevin Durant Talks With Warriors

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Feb 5, 2025 2:57 am

The Phoenix Suns have set an "exorbitant asking price" when conceptually discussing a Kevin Durant trade with the Golden State Warriors. The Suns are seeking essentially everything of future value plus Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga.

Green, who has an established relationship with Suns' owner Mat Ishbia through their Michigan State ties, is a player the Suns covet.

Kuminga will be a restricted free agent this summer and is searching for an annual salary upwards of $30 million.

The Warriors have two outright first round picks they can trade plus up to four swaps.

You mean the Warriors could get Durant AND get rid of Draymond AND not have to pay Kuminga!?

That's a win, win, win... What are they waiting for???

I find it wild and bizarre how few NBA fans realize how good Kuminga is and how much better he'll get. When it's clear, I imagine we'll get nothing but crickets from those that scoff at him now.

Kuminga is great but not a player you can rebuild around. And in 1-2 seasons, Warriros will rebuild. So they need to maximize their shots at one final title push. Adding KD for Green and JK gives them the best possible shot right now.

The Warriors are done contending for titles regardless.

Kuminga ain't close to KD level and never will be 2 picks kuminga and draymond would be laughable.. The warriors would obviously be much better.. I know KD wouldn't have a choice but does he really want to go back to gsw..

So the deal will be essentially KD for Green (yes, I know there's other elements)? After the Luka trade, we've officially entered the Twilight Zone.

Probably, but that shouldn't preclude them from giving it their best shot.

Nobody is scoffing at the idea of Kuminga being a talented player.... but he isn't elite at anything. I wish him all the best, but the GSW will lose him this summer as a RFA if they don't overpay him. Some team (BRK/WAS/UTH?) might throw the fun max at him this summer with the hope that he turns into a star... but he won't. He's right about average in most advanced stat categories.

I won't go crickets on you though; if I'm wrong, I'll be happy to discuss it with you.
