The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to trade KJ Martin and two second round picks to the Detroit Pistons. The trade moves the Sixers fully out of the luxury tax for the season.

The Sixers will send a 2027 second rounder via the Milwaukee Bucks and a 2031 second round via the Dallas Mavericks to the Pistons.

The Pistons will take on Martin's contract into their room exception.

Hope he can get utilized in Detroit. But I feel they got a log jam over there too.

They signed him to this overpay contract hoping to attach assets and get a player in return at this deadline. Obviously things changed for Philly, but giving assets to dump the contract now is a bad look

They are barely a play-in team. Paying the tax for that would have been a bad look.

We don't really. But this is a bad team not winning anything. If owners waste money on a bad team, then they are likely going to try to recoup it later somehow. Maybe by cheaping out when the team is good?
