The Toronto Raptors and New Orleans Pelicans are in advanced talks on a trade of Brandon Ingram. The Atlanta Hawks have also been engaged with the Pelicans on an Ingram trade this week.

Ingram is on a $36 million expiring contract with the Pelicans as the two sides haven't come close on extension terms.

Why not? raps have his bird rights, and they’ve got a decent young roster with a potential top pick. There also aren’t many teams with cap space to steal him away, and the ones that do have cap space are worse off (ex. Nets)

The guys is obviously talented, but does not seem to be able to stay on the court. I'm not sure how he fits alongside Barnes and Co. when he takes the court.

I guess his next contract will be cheaper than Siakam, otherwise, I think Siakam is the better player and more attached to Toronto who should remain.

I hope he does not end up like Otto Porter Jr with the injury.

Siakam? He's attached to Indiana for the next 3 years unless they trade him.

Pascal is my favorite Raptor of all-time. Here’s my take on how this works out better than signing him:

1. Four year deal, no player option, sub 40M AAV. Ideally a team option on the 4th. If you can tie in anything related to games played, even better.

2. BI buys into off-ball movement system that Raps are running. Getting his assisted FGM% higher will make his overall game more efficient.

3. Core strength training over the summer. This should be the first team BI has played for where the other leaders aren’t more brittle than he is. From Lonzo, to LeBron’s injury when he first got to LA, to Zion and onward… he’s been around a lot of other injuries. With Nurse gone and no reason to slow-walk injuries while tanking, the Raptors should come back to being a healthier team.

Put those things together and the contract should work out fine.

Raps have to be top apron by keeping him, currently salaries:
Quickly 32 million
RJ 29 Million
Poletal 20 Mil
Scottie 38 Mill
And it looks like BI wants up to 50 Mil...

Not sure you can pay all of this for a team that's borderline play-in.

Raptors traded Siakam last year.
Meaning it is disappointing to trade away Siakam just to get Ingram, who may not be as good as Siakam and broken down.

Would not be surprised the Raptors trades away one of the starters to get below the tax. Even Ingram may get an extension for the current salary (36m), the Raptors would still be above the tax with a 1st round pick being in the 8m - 10m range.

Wouldn't bird rights only matter if everyone was clamoring to pay 'the most' for him? Like if some idiot swoops in offering him $50 x 4, he gone.

Ya and nobody is gunna pay BI anywhere close to max since he’s lucky if he can play 60 games

Are you sure desperate teams won't sign him for more? Not saying 50m max, but 35m may not be an issue.
Brooklyn with 90m projected cap space, Washington 35m, Charlotte 33m. I guess those would be the teams to see if their competent GM would be desperate. I suppose Ingram would be the top 5 free agents over the summer this year.
