Anthony Davis Was Concerned About State Of Lakers' Roster When LeBron James Retires

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Feb 10, 2025 4:43 pm

Anthony Davis was concerned about what the state of the Los Angeles Lakers' roster would be like when LeBron James decided to retire, sources tell ESPN. Davis thought the Lakers would have a roster built largely to suit James with few options remaining to change it. It wasn't certain Davis would want to extend with the Lakers this offseason knowing the team's future beyond James was unclear.

Davis had been lobbying for the Lakers to acquire a center and the front office had planned to pursue one. While Davis is likely best suited to play full time center at this point in his career, he did have his best success with the Lakers in 2020 when the team also had Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee.

The Lakers moved forward, however, with a trade of Davis to the Dallas Mavericks for Luka Doncic once Rob Pelinka was approached by Nico Harrison.

Davis now gets to play alongside Kyrie Irving, who is on a similar timeline as him, while also playing primarily at power forward as the Mavericks also have Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively.

What concern? Every team LeBron played on had their asset gutted so the "king" can "win" one with his super team/two more franchise players when there's no peak pandemic, then the fan boys would say hey look how bad the team did without LeBron's "greatness". That's how it worked, son.

Yeah, he should have been concerned. He should be concerned in DAL as well, because key free agents don't go there.

This is a lie lol.. Cavs when he was drafted sucked the best player they put alongside him was mo Williams lol.. So he joined the heat with Wade and Bosh and yes they jettisoned the rest of the team in this case and had no depth but they also didn't make massive trades for LeBron the reason the heat weren't very good is because Wade's knees were gone and the heat knew that refused to pay him and Chris Bosh ended up with blood clots.. None of this was LeBrons doing.. Then he went to the cavs they traded Andrew Wiggins who has had one good season his whole career and Anthony Bennett no longer in the nba for Kevin love.. LeBron took them to 4 str8 finals even when Kyrie left and btw he wanted Paul george instead cavs traded for a bunch of misfits and the 8th pick in the draft and also note the cavs sucked before LeBron got there and when LeBron left that team he took to the finals that year with every single player still there same coach and they tried to win there goal was to win without LeBron but no they were the worst team in the league.. The cavs however still had assests to rebuild they didn't use them all up and what they did give up wasn't that much.. Now to the lakers they gave most of the stuff up to get AD then they won and when he came they went to the number 1 seed in the west before the season shut down beating the clippers and the bucks and the bubble teams were the same 4 teams as they were in 2023.. nuggets heat boston and lakers.. Now the fact that LeBron is that good that he lifts team from bottom to contenders is just how it is.. When MJ left the bulls they went from 57 wins to 55 wins and were still contenders.. This is also how it is.. The current lakers though had AD still been there and Lebron retired had assests.. They would have 2 first rd picks to trade.. They had Austin reeves.. They had expiring contracts and the last pick they owed was this year 2025 and the 2027 top 4 protected pick to get off the westbrick disaster.. AD was just scared to take over and fail.. Let's be real AD is great but if he is the guy trying to run the team your going to be in trouble but make no mistake he would of signed that extension.

You don't need this much BS to say you are a fanboy; none of what you said makes any sense. Blaming other player's injuries as if no other teams suffer the same LOL. Basically, LeBron couldn't do it on his own, unlike Curry and the other real Greats, so he jumped ship whenever the wind blows the other way and he couldn't get his candies. Thanks for the summary, LOL!
