Carmelo Anthony has been hired by NBC as one of their top studio analysts. Anthony retired from playing in May 2023 and is a Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame nominee this year.

Maria Taylor is under consideration to lead the network’s NBA pregame show. NBC has hired Jamal Crawford and Reggie Miller as game analysts.

NBC had recent talks with Charles Barkley, who still has seven years remaining on his deal with TNT, but those have ended.

Having heard Melo talk about basketball in podcasts and such, I don’t think he’ll make a very good analyst. But he has a very cult like following among some basketball fans so will be good for clicks/viewership.

Love to see it. Me7o was villainized pretty hard in his playing days, so this really shows how much he has turned his reputation around, and the impact that podcasts can have on this kind of thing. Hope he crushes it.

He started shooting the 3 primarily, but with a counter if he was ran off the line... and his final year was his personal best defensive rating year.

Melo is having a hell of a year, pretty impressive. I think he'll do fine as an analyst, except he will protect the players... He just needs to get to the point. Because we've never really seen him in that role, his show is more regarding the politics and gossip of the league, more so than the game adjustments
