Paul George Says He's Playing Through Pain To Continue To Play This Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Feb 21, 2025 2:00 pm

Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George admitted that he's playing through an injury to finish this season. It was recently reported that George is receiving painkilling injections on a regular basis to be able to play.

"I'm hanging in there," George said after the Sixers home loss to the Boston Celtics. "I'm just trying to give this team everything I have.

"The report is true. I'm taking some sorts of medicines to kind of, I guess, play through pain. But yeah, I'm going to try to give everything I got."

George has missed 19 games this season due to a series of injuries. He's dealt with knee injuries, an ankle injury and a strained groin, and is now playing through a damaged tendon in his left pinky finger.

The money set aside for James Harden was handed out to PG instead. Morey is done for. Both bad decisions

Warriors dodged a bullet. Butler's contract is shorter and cheaper, playing better so far.

PG looks like a bust but confused by the criticism here. Ben Simmons got flipped for Harden and he’s been totally useless so that seems like a clear win. And Harden wasn’t the answer in Philly, maxing him would’ve plateaued the team without $ or flexibility (even if they might have won more games in the RS than they have this year). Got multiple 1sts and some solid players out of trading Harden too.

Anyway it’s all just gambles. Who knew Harden would decline when he did, or why PG would have his worst year right after one of his best. Always feels like loser mentality to be like ‘you lost a decent gamble therefore you’re a failing idiot.’ It’s good to take some big swings, and it feels small/weak to wait on the sidelines until it’s clear who won and lost and then announce ‘the losers are bad and the winners are good!’

You can't be too mad PG's rough year coincides with Joel's. They need each other to do damage in the postseason.

They need to shut them both down now to salvage their investments.

Ben Simmons didn't get flipped for Harden. Simmons was salary filler in that deal. BRK didn't want Simmons; they wanted Seth Curry, Drummond, two 1sts and cash. Curry and Drummond filled two starting spots for them, combining for 27/13/4 and giving them much needed depth. I'm sure they hoped Simmons would regain his form, but if you take Simmons out of the equation, the deal still makes sense for BRK. (Probably more sense.)

I knew that PG would have a bad year, and I predicted team failure before training camp. The roster is tiny outside of Drummond and Embiid... two players that should never be on the floor together. They were destined to fail. And just like Tobias, PG was going to get most of the blame. The third star spending much of his energy guarding out of position on the other end.

Morey is a joke, isaiah Thomas thinks he's a bad GM. They should tear it town and build around Maxey.

Harden has been playing great with the Clippers.

I wonder how these guy take care of there body in the off season and even during the season. Then you have someone like LeBron who seems to never get injured but his game is way more physical and speed than finesse like pg. They need to ask him what he does to stay ready and pick his brain

100%. I don't understand why they're still trying to win, when surgery and recovery for both Joel and Paul are clearly the path forward. The longer they delay, the longer the recovery lingers into next season.

Brooklyn is actively trying to lose, load managing like crazy, suppressing starters' minutes and Philly still can't beat them. SMH
