The NBA will hold an arbitration hearing during the week of July 21 for Adam Silver to settle the long-running legal dispute between the Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks, according to a court filing Saturday in New York that was obtained by ESPN.

In August 2023, the Knicks sued the Raptors alleging the theft of thousands of confidential files. From the start, the Raptors asked Silver to step in, but the Knicks, who sought more than $10 million in damages, expressed concerns about Silver's ability to remain impartial, arguing that he should stay on the sidelines partly because of his close relationship with Raptors governor Larry Tanenbaum, who also is chairman of the NBA board of governors.

In the initial complaint, the Knicks alleged that the Raptors poached Ikechukwu Azotam, who worked for New York from 2020 to 2023, and ordered him to provide a trove of internal information after Toronto began recruiting him in summer 2023. The Knicks argued that this effort was geared toward giving the Raptors a competitive advantage.

It’s pretty wild. Not saying this should be journalism perfection but act like you care about your product sometimes. You would think an 8 year old is proofreading these posts daily

I don't think anybody's looking at these. I think it's done by a bot. Just like the aggregator sites. Which explains the typos and the double paragraphs and all the other strange phrases it uses.

IDK. I own a business and (with no prior tech experience) built my own website. It is much more streamlined and looks way nicer than RealGM, but there is no way I have the skill set to employ bots. If RealGM was that advanced I probably wouldn't feel like I'm on a 1990's website with a dial-up connection right now.

How exactly did this mole help the Raptors? They’ve sucked since 2020. What’s the Knicks argument here?

IDK. I own a business and (with no prior tech experience) built my own website. It is much more streamlined and looks way nicer than RealGM, but there is no way I have the skill set to employ bots. If RealGM was that advanced I probably wouldn't feel like I'm on a 1990's website with a dial-up connection right now.

Some of the aggregator sites look like they're run by 13-year-old children as well.

thats the whole charm of this website, if you ask me. and thats why im still here. i feel like there are not many teenagers around here. yea we debate passionately and have strong opinons. but most of the time its respectful and people now when to stop replying.

this is how i got to know the internet back then. on forums like this. i dont want realgm to become like one of those new blogs/websites. i work in cybersecurity, so im relatively tech savvy. i am 100% certain its not much effort to post clean articles these days, even on an old skeleton of a msg board like RealGM.

but hey, im not mad about it. i was just making a little joke about it lol

If the Knicks did this to another team, we'd lose a 2nd round pick no question, maybe a first. Because it was done to the Knicks - a slap on the wrist. Maybe a scolding. Perhaps a $5 fine.
