Luka Doncic could have signed a five-year, $345 million supermax contract extension with the Dallas Mavericks and had every intention of doing so and remaining with the franchise long-term.

"I know in talking to people around Luka Doncic over the past 72 hours, I was at that Lakers-Clippers game on Sunday, he had no intention of ever leaving Dallas," said Shams Charania on The Pat McAfee Show. "He had just bought a new home in Dallas for a lofty, lofty price. He did not want to go anywhere.

"You think of a player coming from abroad. They are very committed. They are loyal. That's how he viewed himself with the Mavericks. One team, one city, forever. I think that's going to carry over to the Lakers. I think he's loving his time in L.A."

This offseason on August 2nd, Doncic becomes eligible to sign an extension with the Lakers for as much as $229 million over five years. Doncic can also sign a three-year, $165 million extension with a player option for 28-29 to coincide with his 10 years of service when he can sign at the 35 percent max.

72 degrees in L. A. today with clear blue skies. I was driving around with my convertible top down. Only thing is the high taxes and weak elected officials.

I grew up in SoCal. Hated the weather, the smog, the traffic, the crime, the cost of living, the seemingly endless suburbs... A lot of people love it, but it's not for everyone. (Nice humble brag on the convertible though.)

There is a big difference when you are a millionaire, though. Any part of the world can be nice when you have a lot of money, except for Cleveland. You can never be happy in Cleveland.

Yeah, Doncic probably didn't like it. Doncic could lose more than 100 million dollars in potential earnings. It's always about money.

I know you're being tongue-in-cheek, but I lived in Cleveland (the Heights) for five years almost a decade ago, and I still call it America's Best Kept Secret. Yeah, the clouds mean you have to mainline Vitamin D, especially if you're a die-hard sports fan, but compared to the other cities/countries I've lived in, the combination of nature/affordability/diversity/arts & culture/safety is really shocking for where it is and how small it is.

There are so many levels of wealth in L. A. I've been here my whole life and some would say I'm living well. But compared to the ritziest places in this city, where the elites live, I'm small fish. I'm talking about living on the Strand in Manhattan Beach or gated communities in Bel Air and Brentwood. Those people aren't dealing with the same issues us plebs deal with.

But weather is a strange complaint. I've been around the country and personally would prefer not to store my car for 5 months to avoid salt rust and shoveling my driveway. I don't mind the 60-70 degree winters here one bit. But other than that, I can understand why this city isn't for everyone. I probably would've left too if my family and business wasn't all here.

Mine and my wife's families are still there. I visit when I can. I agree that the winters are nice; it's the summers I found unbearable. Really from about May to November.

It's not really a strange complaint. Weather is the thing SoCal residents usually brag about, and 72 in March is a great time to do that. But when things start to heat up, moods tend to dip and people start to gripe. All sun, all the time isn't all it's cracked up to be.
