In a recent appearance with WFAA, the local ABC affiliate for Dallas, Mark Cuban discussed the Dallas Mavericks trading away Luka Doncic. When asked if he was upset by the trade, Cuban didn't hold back in his thoughts on the deal.

"Of course. And like I’ve said before, if the Mavs were going to trade Luka, that’s one thing—but get a better deal," Cuban said. "No disrespect to Anthony Davis, but I firmly believe if we had gotten four unprotected first-round picks, Anthony Davis, and Max Christie, this would be a different conversation."

Cuban also said that he often finds out about Mavericks basketball decisions after the fact. He said with the Doncic trade that he found out about five minutes before the news was broken by ESPN's Shams Charania.

When asked if has any regrets about selling the team, Cuban made it clear he sold the Mavericks to avoid a situation like the Doncic trade.

"Sometimes I get mad and think, 'I would have done this differently,' but no, not really," Cuban said. "I sold the team because I didn’t want my kids to end up in this position. Imagine if I hadn’t sold and my kids had taken over, and they made a mistake like this."

Eh he doesn’t look good at all, admits he totally failed to keep any control to the point that he doesn’t even hear about team things til they’re in the news. And yeah he adds that he sold the team so he and family wouldn’t be in the hook for pr things, but I don’t think anyone thinks that means money wasn’t a factor at all. Think the subtext there is him responding ‘wouldnt keeping some control of the mavs be more important to you than just the money’ and he’s saying ‘nah it’s actually good to have that load off me and family.’

Really, it’s ‘ironic’ that an owner whose team made a mistake 4 years ago would ever have an opinion on any basketball move again.

I don’t like Cuban and think he’s mostly phony but the Knicks got Brunson for a medium-level FA deal, any team could’ve offered more and got him. Just do a victory lap, man, you guys got the star you were looking for in a very unlikely place.

Child pleeeze. AD is an all star, NBA champion, Olympic gold medalist. All world player. And I would give up all of our guards for max Christie. The Mavericks gave up quality. And got top notch quality in return. Total win-win trade

I think that's Cuban's point whether he admits it or not -- he sucked at assessing talent and had no business doing it. He got WAY too close to players and FO staff.

Stupid that he tried to spin it so it's about "his children" making hypothetical Nico-level mistakes in the future -- versus the fear of looking in the mirror... Remember Nico was HIS guy (same as Cuban's infatuation with Haralabos "Bob" Voulgaris)

Spin or not -- we all know what Cuban was; an overhyped self-promoting owner who didn't run the team exceptionally well.

right. they need to start respecting max christie and stop acting like he buns. he’s a great young valuabletalent

I know the trade was bad but what if Luka is hurt in the playoffs and didn't resign with the team he was traded too? That has to reduce his value ala Kawhi to Toronto right? Although if they let Luka speak with the team wanting to trade for him they could have worked that out.

i do not believe cuban. he's throwing niko under the bus who was forced to trade luka and do so with a limited window. mark knew what they were gonna do and it playing dumb now. its all part of a bigger plan if you ask me.

Let's be objective,if AD was 25, this trade will be in the Mavs favor. AD plays both side of the ball while Luka's game is most predicated on step back jumpers. He plays no defense and doesn't have the lateral.quickness to blow by alot of good permiter defenders. He is very bad on the defensive end as well. AD is a beast defensively and offensively when he is healthy. Health has always been his achilles heels. I believe Denver will beat the lakers again in the playoffs. Denver has the best player in the leaque in Jokic. Jokic has been the best player in the leaque for atleast 3 to 4 years now but he doesn't get alot of love because he is european.
