Jazz Fined $100,000 For Violating NBA's Player Participation Policy With Lauri Markkanen

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Mar 12, 2025 9:56 pm

The NBA has announced that the Utah Jazz organization has been fined $100,000 for violating the league’s Player Participation Policy. The violation occurred when the Jazz failed to make Lauri Markkanen, a star player under the Policy, available for the team’s game against the Washington Wizards on March 5 at Capital One Arena, as well as other recent games.

The Policy, which was adopted prior to the 2023-24 season, is intended to promote participation in the NBA’s regular season.

They fined Cuban for doing this with Kyrie and Luka, and they ended up with Lively.

They’re punishing the Jazz now, which means they end up with Cooper Flagg

$100,000 is a joke. I wish the Raptors tanked as hard as Utah as all wins now are detrimental. Sadly they have won 5 of their last 6 trying to lose :( the other tanks are too strong.

Utah is going to get Cooper Flagg, even if they don't end-up with the worst record, bet the house on it.

meanwhile in the tank bowl

"Wednesday’s game against the Raptors is one of their biggest games of the season for all the wrong reasons. The Sixers will have a 63.9% chance of keeping their pick if they finish with the fifth-worst record, a 45.8% chance with the sixth-worst record and a 31.9% chance with the seventh-worst record."

Sixers sat Maxey, Lowry, PG13

And Raptors countered by sitting Boucher (Coach's decision), Quickley (Rest), Ingram and Barnes (sprains)

If I was a jazz fan I'd worry about the league taking away that top pick.
