Zion Williamson has played at an All-NBA level since returning from his hamstring injury in January. Williamson's future with the New Orleans Pelicans was unclear while he was out given his injury history and their place in the Western Conference hierarchy.
"I remember Bobby [Marks] and I wrote a story just as he was about to come back and kind of like 'What's coming with Zion?'" said Tim MacMahon on The Hoop Collective Podcast. "What the trade value and market might be for him.
"Somebody told us then the goal is to ramp him up and restore his value whether that's for the Pelicans or another team. And he's handling the first part, to his credit, he is absolutely handling the first part."
"I still don't know how much they can actually get for him based on his injury history," replied Brian Windhorst.
"There's some teams that would have significant interest," said MacMahon.

Trading for Zion is like a worse version of trading for AD.

This is a pretty bad clip cap, the actual conversation is ‘teams aren’t gonna wanna risk that injury right’ and then ‘yeah but maybe one team will have interest.’

The problem with trading for AD is that Luka was in the deal. Most teams would have had interest in AD if their best player wasn't involved in the deal.

There is very little risk in trading for Zion. His contract is laden with protections. Worse case scenario, he gets waived and turned into cap relief. If fully healthy Zion is worth five 1sts plus a good player... and cap relief is worth one 1st plus matching salary, I'd expect his value to be in the middle... two-three 1sts plus a couple of OK rotation players. There would be interest.
