Bill Chisholm, managing partner of Symphony Technology Group, has reached an agreement to purchase the Boston Celtics at a $6.1 billion valuation. This is the largest sale of a North American sports franchise.

The Celtics had been put up for sale by the Grousbeck family this past summer. The sale announcement came on the heels of Boston winning a record 18th NBA title.

You do know there is such a thing called “a bad investment” not saying this is but considering the second apron and the amount of money Celtics got on payroll the next few years is gonna start to get a little rocky

lol the valuations of teams of been going up consistently for years. Michael Jordan sold his stake in the freaking hornets for 3 billion after buying it for 275 million and they suck, lol. The valuations for NBA team are getting so high Silver is said to be looking for foreign investors to buy teams. That is more of a problem for me than the valuation of teams. With the new tv deal, unless things would have to go terribly wrong for teams to lose their value.
