Richard Pitino is expected to be hired by Xavier University as their next head coach. Pitino is leaving the University of New Mexico for the job at Xavier.

Pitino will now coach against his father Rick in the Big East. Rick Pitino is the head coach at St. John's. The younger Pitino is replacing Sean Miller at Xavier, after Miller left to take the job at the University of Texas.

Richard Pitino led the Lobos to the last two NCAA Tournaments. Before coaching at New Mexico, Pitino was the head coach at the University of Minnesota for eight seasons.
