The Los Angeles Lakers and Rob Pelinka have agreed to a contract extension. Along with the extension, Pelinka will also have the new title of president of basketball options.

The Lakers hired Pelinka as general manager in 2017 along with Magic Johnson. Johnson left the Lakers in 2019 with Pelinka then assuming duties as top decision-maker.

Over the past 12 months, Pelinka hired JJ Redick as head coach and also traded for Luka Doncic.

Before joining the Lakers, Pelinka was a longtime agent with clients such as Kobe Bryant, James Harden and Andre Iguodala.

If it wasn’t for the Luka trade, there would have been riots in the streets of Los Angeles because of this extension.

I think Pelinka gets a bad rep (even before the Luka trade). He actually drafts incredibly well, arguably top 5 when it comes to that.

That's their talent scouts which are excellent.. He should get good grades for Reddick hire and DFS trade while Luka fell in his lap mind you negative for Ham and not improving this roster in years they could of been a contender with AD and LeBron the luka thing is pure fluke

Are you serious? There’s no way he’s top 5 when it comes to drafting. He wasted a first round pick on JHS. Also, and I’m not sure how much involvement he had in the drafting of Lonzo Ball but they drafted him over Jason Tatum. You can argue that the lakers have hit on some 2nd picks and obviously undrafted Austin Reaves but they have fumbled big in the first round.

Good for the Lakers. He's done incredibly well.

Contract extension? For what? Being able to answer the phone when LeBron calls and says he wants to be a Laker? Or to accept Luka as a gift?
