Sam Presti Named NBA Executive Of The Year

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue May 6, 2025 4:47 pm

Sam Presti has been named the 24-25 NBA Basketball Executive of the Year. The Oklahoma City Thunder had a 68-14 record, which is tied for the sixth-best record in NBA history. The award is the first in Presti's tenure with the Thunder.

Presti received 10 First Place votes, six Second Place votes and six Third Place votes to finish ahead of Koby Altman of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Trajan Langdon of the Detroit Pistons. Rafael Stone of the Houston Rockets and Lawrence Frank of the LA Clippers rounded out the top-5.

The current iteration of the Thunder began when Presti traded both Paul George and Russell Westbrook during the 2019 offseason. Those trades helped the Thunder acquire the likes of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams.

The thunder had a hell of a season and Presti has done a fantastic job building the team, but..... basically none of that was this year. This is more a lifetime achievement award vs 2025?

The guy who actually turned it around for a team this year was langdon.

But he didn't do anything this year for the team. Sure, he's built a great team but this is NBA Executive of the Year, not of the past few years while you're trying to build a team. At the very least, executives who have made wise decisions during the year should be considered, like Pelinka

Langdon keeps the young core drafted by Weaver and adds some mid vets for 44 wins and that you deem him more worthy than Presti?

For shame.

Presti added Hartenstein and Caruso for a 68 win historically good team. Didn’t do anything?

For shame.

Presti did great, but this kind of feels like Scorsese winning his first Oscar for The Departed.

Presti did great. Only guy that did better was the one who landed a 26 year old phenom for an aging star. Weirdly don't see his name up there. And lol at Lawrence Frank.

That's literally what the Thunder did in the Paul George trade.

Kind of funny that Lawrence frank is named in the top 5 and the article goes on to say that the current iteration of the thunder began when they traded Paul George to the clippers to acquire SGA, who will end up winning MVP this year.
