Cooper Flagg 'Thrilled' To Join Mavericks After Initial Draft Lottery Shock

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed May 14, 2025 2:44 am

Despite his initial visible shock at Monday's draft lottery results, Cooper Flagg is "thrilled" about joining the Dallas Mavericks, sources told ESPN. Dallas secured the top pick with just a 1.8 percent chance of winning the lottery.

Sources indicate the Flagg camp quickly recognized the advantages of landing with a playoff-caliber roster featuring established veterans. The Mavericks also have a clear positional need at small forward that Flagg can immediately fill.

Dallas will expect Flagg to take on significant offensive responsibilities as a rookie, similar to his role at Duke. This approach should benefit his long-term development as he adapts to the NBA level.

The Mavericks will not entertain trade offers for Flagg and will add him as a core piece alongside Anthony Davis and presumably Kyrie Irving, who is currently recovering from a torn ACL and could become a free agent this offseason.

Dallas plans to re-sign Irving despite his injury setback, forming what they believe could be a championship-contending trio with Davis and Flagg.

Dallas moved up 10 spots in the lottery, which ties the Orlando Magic in 1993 for the highest jump in NBA lottery history.

If we ignore the utterly insane and incompetent ownership/FO, Dallas is indeed the perfect destination for Flagg. Basketball fit wise, big market, nice wealthy state. Now let's see if Dumont and Nico can f this up.

It’s pretty crazy to say Dallas is a “perfect destination” for Flagg.

You must be discounting the fact the GM is clearly a raging power hungry narcissist who’s created a toxic atmosphere amongst staff, makes terrible decisions(trading Luka), **** talks players anonymously (Luka), then pretends he’d never do such a thing.

Nevermind the fact the owner is clearly an idiot

Is Dallas better for Flagg than Portland, Charlotte, or Sacramento? Maybe…but 75% of the leagues teams would be better for him than Dallas

"Ya'll slander a dude..."

How you gonna act like Nico's some victim in this lmao. He literally gave you proof why he's a narcissist. He slandered himself by trading Luka and then sh** talking him.

Yeah facts. These are the same guys who will say "Oh wait maybe Nico was onto something" because Luka had a bad series. They are knee-jerk reactionists.

Are you blind, ret*rded, or you are just unable to read? If you are one of those three, then you are excused. If not, then I would just point you to the very first sentence I wrote in my original post.
