Celtics May Have To Attach Draft Pick To Trade Jrue Holiday

Jrue Holiday is a trade candidate this offseason as the Boston Celtics look to shed salary and reset their roster ahead of Jayson Tatum's probable return from Achilles surgery in 26-27. Holiday is owed $104 million over the next three seasons and multiple rival executives have asserted that the Celtics may need to attach some form of draft compensation to trade him.

Holiday, who is represented by Jason Glushon, averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists 30.6 minutes over 62 games this past season at the age of 34.

The Celtics could fill Holiday's vacated minutes with some combination of Payton Pritchard and Baylor Scheierman.

After the Celtics were eliminated from the playoffs, Holiday said his preference is to remain with the franchise.

I don't see any other way to move a contract like Holiday's without draft compensation.

Correct this overpay at his age is puzzling in the year they won and jrue shot better than ever was never likely to continue they then massive overpay to keep him who was giving him this contract i guess to be fair houston went nuts on Fred van fleet and Dillion Brooks but still.. Nets could use Jrue as a culture player

He is the 53rd highest Salary next year and still ranked in the top 60 in impact Metrics on a down year. Players have longer careers these days. Look at some other guard for their 35-37 seasons.
He is overpaid but not as much as it’s made out to be. If it’s a full on dump then sure picks need to be attached but if it’s a trade for a guy like Demar making about 8 -10 million less then IDK. Jrue is a winner even at this age and he will help a team that wants to win. The Celtics don’t really need to trade him until Feb of 2026 to get under the tax for the 2026/27 season. They are not going to panic and add a first round pick just to move him.

His contract extension was seen as a bargain by a lot of people when he signed it. Crazy how quick things can change in the NBA.

He fits in Sacramento, New Orleans, or Miami.

His age contract and length of contract make him a bad deal.. He has a down year but also the year they won he had an up year.. I dont think you attach much if you go for Demar maybe depends if sac want that longer contract but Demar is kinda bad too but cheaper.. I would use a pick to offload KP first.. straight into salary space..

The C's are going to want to move both Holiday AND Porzingis.

And take back less than 30M in return.

Duck those aprons!!
