The Phoenix Suns are expected to ramp up their efforts to trade Kevin Durant between now and the June 25th draft. The Suns hired Jordan Ott as head coach on Wednesday, which resolves that initially critical item of business for the team's offseason.

"Over the next two to three weeks, conversations will begin to heat up," said Shams Charania. "I'm told the Suns will work Durant and his business partner, Rich Kleiman, on a trade home. There's expected to be a robust market for him of four to six teams seriously interested in Durant potentially ahead of the NBA draft."

Durant has one season remaining on his contract, which would give him some level of control over the situation. Charania previously reported in April that the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets are amongst the teams with potential interest in trading for Durant.

Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists as he was on his way to an All-NBA berth had he reached the 65-game minimum.

I don't see how they can do that - there's no market for him unless he drastically lowers his salary expectations. The only other way is to attach a pick to move out of his contract, but they don't have any picks left for the next decade.

If any team, ANY TEAM, trades a lottery pick for KDud, they deserve to be mired in mediocrity and financial stagnation for the foreseeable future.
