Grizzlies Not Looking To Trade Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jun 16, 2025 1:20 pm

After trading Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic, the Memphis Grizzlies created cap flexibility long-term and acquired several additional draft picks. However, the Grizzlies aren't turning towards a rebuild. Memphis has no intentions of trading Ja Morant or Jaren Jackson Jr.

When the Grizzlies were swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round, GM Zack Kleiman said his team wasn't close to contention. That indicated that changes were coming, but those don't include trading stars Morant or Jackson. In fact, in the wake of the Bane trade, Memphis is even more likely to create additional cap space this offseason to renegotiate-and-extend Jackson's contract.

The Grizzlies also intend to play at a faster pace under now-permanent head coach Tuomas Iisalo. Memphis believes that will maximize the skillsets of Morant and Jackson, while Bane may not have fit in quite as well in an up-tempo system.

Just trade Edey, #16 and KCP to Toronto for RJ Barrett. He had more PPG, RPG and APG then Bane, plus he's taller and younger.

... and a far less efficient scorer and much worse defender. I feel like you are a TOR fan just hoping to get something good for a player that puts up counting stats without putting up wins.

RJ Barrett is awful. No one wants him.

RJ Barrett is a poor man’s bane. No way in hell he’d fit well in the new system

Hard to put up wins with the teams they fielded tbh. But his D is somewhat improved imo.
