Hawks Looking At Options For Using $25M Trade Exception

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jun 21, 2025 10:01 pm

The Atlanta Hawks won't have cap space this offseason, but the team is working well under the luxury tax and the tax aprons. That gives the Hawks more than enough flexibility to be a player on the trade market this offseason.

Atlanta has a $25.3 million Traded Player Exception that will expire on July 7. That exception was created in the Dejounte Murray trade last offseason.

Because they are so far below the tax and the aprons, the Hawks are in good position to use that exception to take on money in a potential trade. Atlanta has also been reported to have interest in re-signing Caris LeVert. The Hawks acquired LeVert at last season's trade deadline in a deal that sent De'Andre Hunter to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
