Quentin Grimes could command a salary that exceeds the $14.1 million midlevel exception. Grimes had a breakout season following his trade from the Dallas Mavericks to the Philadelphia 76ers and averaged 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 3.37 minutes over 28 games. Grimes also had a PER of 18.3 in his 28 games with the Sixers.

Grimes, who is a restricted free agent, is represented by David Bauman and Travis King, Jr.. Grimes and the Mavericks were unable to agree to terms on an extension last October.

The Sixers are prepared to exceed the first apron and could even go over the second apron this offseason. With the Sixers keeping their draft pick and it moving up to No. 3, they will add $11 million in salary with their selection.

I don't mind Grimes but obviously his stats were inflated because of Philadelphia tanking. Not many teams out there with cap space and would be wary of signing someone who had such a massive increase in production versus the rest of his career.
Would think he might get a deal similar to Bruce Brown from a couple of years ago, 2 years with around $15-20 million annually. If he doesn't work out could include him as salary in a future deal.

inflated a little bit for cap jump the last couple years, Bruce Brown’s deal would like $27m annually.

Philly should be okay going up to 20 million for him. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

The NBA middle class isn't what it once was and Grimes looks like he could bee a great player at only 24. But.... IMO he's proven his capabilities, but hasn't proven he's worth a crazy investment

By who? Nets or who else? Would've been a thought to at least list possibilities

Crazy how he went from not even being able to buy a bucket when playing on the Knicks, to putting up like 30 a game on the tanking 76ers.

There was a lot of that in NYK under Thibs. He didn't want to play "pretty good" players. That's why players like IQ, Grimes or OB look like they made a jump when they left. I would argue that these players are still just "pretty good" and try not to get too excited when it's time to resign them. A Maxey/Grimes backcourt is too small to hoist the big trophy.

"breakout season", 28 games. More like a breakout half season

There’s nobody who has the cap to send an offer sheet except BKN.

Now, could they give him a little more than the MLE to get him to sign for more years? Sure. 3-48 seems about right in that scenario.

Or if he wants more than that, and doesn’t get an offer sheet, he would take his QO and play it out.

I can see the Sixers retaining him. He showed up last season when all was lost, and he actually proved he can be productive.

Now, on a healthy Philly team (if that ever happens), he surely won't put up similar numbers, but that doesn't make him any less valuable.
